'Scanned' A documentary about absurdity.

SYNOPSIS of the Documentary 'Scanned'
by Charysee Tia Harper, Producer

The United States is a country that guarantees basic rights to its citizens as protected by the amendments within the constitution. However, with the introduction of full-body scanners within the US, some believe that these rights are being violated.

Though it may sound political on the surface, Scanned will in fact be comedic. The audience will be introduced to Flying Pasties – a company that has created protecting coverings (pasties) for the groin and chest (for women) to protect travelers from radiation when going through the scanners – and its spokesperson, Mike Francis, who is a Las Vegas comedian.

As the images and sayings on the pasties are humorous and light-hearted, Scanned aims to take a “stand-up comic” route: introduce an important issue, but in a humorous manner.

In addition, the 30-minute documentary will touch upon the basic pros and cons of full-body scanners with interviews from security officials (TSA in the United States; Polizia di Stato officials in Milan, Italy; and those in Amsterdam), Pilots' Association spokesperson, medical professionals, flight attendants, and everyday travelers.
